“I am pleased to announce that the Board of Regents has approved the appointment of Dr. Alexander C. Kemos to serve in the newly created position of Senior Vice President for Administration, effective immediately. His selection follows a search by a broad-based campus advisory committee chaired by Dr. Jeffrey R. Seemann, Vice President for Research.
“Dr. Kemos currently holds the position of Chief of Staff to the President and previously served as Associate Executive Vice President for Operations. In his new role, Dr. Kemos will continue to report directly to me while providing management oversight for administrative matters related to non-academic operations in the areas of facilities and physical plant, business auxiliaries and university risk and compliance, which includes university police. In addition, he will continue to represent the President’s Office on special projects as directed.
“Prior to joining the Texas A&M administration, Dr. Kemos was Executive Vice President for Corporate Development and founding partner of Nordic American Group, with offices in Dallas and Oslo, Norway. At Nordic American, he developed and managed a practice in university strategy and operations, with clients that included Texas A&M, Harvard, and ETH (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Zurich, Switzerland). He also has extensive international management consulting and senior executive leadership experience, having served in strategic consultation and management roles at Hewlett-Packard, E.I. DuPont Nemours, UnumProvident and the Monitor Group of Cambridge, Mass.
“Dr. Kemos is a graduate of Hamilton College in Clinton, NY. He was selected to attend graduate school as a National Security Fellow and completed his master’s and doctoral studies at Tufts University Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy. He has taught political science, strategy and historical studies at Harvard and the U.S. Naval War College.
“Please join me in congratulating Dr. Kemos on his selection for this key new position and wishing him well as he moves into this new phase of service to the University.”
